Support for Windows 8 Metro apps
I can't seem to get anything to work on this platform
Is there K9 filter anti-porn for Windows 8?
I've downloaded k9 two times and each time I've had to reboot my windows software.
Make a version of k9 that extends itself also to the apps on a windows 8 start menu. One can still download new browsers or use an existing one in the start menu to bypass k9 entirely, the metro apps remain unaffected.
I love K9 and recently upgraded one of my home PC's to Windows 8. It would be great if k9 supported windows 8,
K9 does not filter very well threw the new Window 8 App
The apps in app store create a loop hole into unprotected sites.
Any update in a win8 version of k9?
Currently, K9 does not block traffic through the IE10 browser. I suggest K9 is rewritten to work like PeerBlock, using methods to monitor traffic through the entire operating system rather than via the browser. This means support for Windows 8, which has been out a few months now. Also after bootup, it takes awhile for K9 to get access to its access points so that process needs to improve so that users can start browsing right when the system is done booting. Finally, the last speed improvement is due to the issue of viewing the detailed internet activity view. Instead, the program should be written to load only a certain number of details at a time, and when a user scrolls to the bottom of the page, more automatically load or the user can select to view the next page of details. Some users would still prefer to view the whole list at once as it currently does, and this should still be an option, however currently it slows the browser down and so something should be done about the default viewing method.
Create a version of K9 that works with Windows 8 - blocking both apps and applications. It currently doesn't block apps.
Do you know when Windows 8 CP will be supported?
Windows 8 is now fully supported in our latest version of K9 Web Protection (version 4.4.268) which can be downloaded at http://download.k9webprotection.com/k9-webprotection.exe (for Windows) or http://download.k9webprotection.com/k9-webprotection.dmg (for OS X).

Toonetown, an official K9 spokesperson, says "Windows 8 is now fully supported in our latest version of K9 Web Protection."
If "supported" means that K9 will install in Windows 8, then yes, that's correct.
But it certainly does NOT block apps in the Windows Store. Isn't that the point of this whole thread? Go back and read the title: "Support for Windows 8 Metro apps."
Example: K9 is configured to block "games." It does this perfectly in any browser. But go to the Windows Store, and I can easily download thousands of games.
I brought this to the attention of K9 Tech Support. The reply was that it's impossible to block the Windows Store, the way it's built into Windows.
That's OK. But the official K9 notice on this thread should make that clear, rather than the misleading "fully supported."

k9 is not blocking anything for me on windows 8. I have clicked on the above link, rebooted, tried to specifically disallow youtube, but I can still get on there and see anything. It does not seem to work at all even though it is installed and letting me change settings.
Doesn't even work on Windows 8 32 bit , instead it stopped my windows working, I was unable to boot after a reboot from installing K9

K9 protection is great on my XP platform. It does not work at all on Win 8 or 8.1. I have installed and reinstalled to no avail!
after installing K9 for windows 7 my windows update stopped working, anything I need to do to make Windows update working again?
I'm using windows 8.1 64bit. Unfortunately K9 doesn't block any sites. I use Mozilla Firefox :-(
It will install on windows 8 but will not work on windows 8.

Is windows 8.1 also fully supported?
It doesn't seem to work o the Amazon app.
I caught my nephew searching things that are normally blocked on the browser, but for some reason the Amazon app is exempt. Any ideas?

I tested the lates Beta version, and although Win8 is supported, it seems there's a hole regarding Metro apps. For example if youtube.com is place on the blacklist - it will prevent anyone from accessing youtube via a webbrowser, however my simply d/l ing a free metro app (e.g. MegaTube) the user has free access to view what they want on youtube.
Does this work for windows 8 phones?
Windows 8 on this program K9 web protection works correctly, but still there is still a problem - web browser (Mozilla Firefox) to fires automatically when the connection to the Internet and on a piece of browser page will www.bing.com.
Please solve this problem in this program in beta.
Thank you for your attention.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
