Stealth Mode (no warnings, custom block pages, etc)
I don't know of a way to disable the black pop-up in the corner of the screen that says that a web site has be blocked.
Make an option ("x") so that a user can turn off the black notification boxes that appear on the bottom right of the computer screen
Whenever the user incurs in a blocked page, it doesn't show that that page is blocked by k9, but, for instance, it keeps loading that page forever or it says that is not existent (like error 404 or 403 or just page temporarily not available or whatever)
I'm using PC, it seem the notification at the bottom right corner make me feel uncomfortable, is there any way i can remove the notification, or put the button to toggle it on invisible or visible notification.
I'm using proxy internet for my laptop at the University, it seems that with the present of proxy the k9 software have trouble to work on properly and constantly flag up the notification. any solution for proxy? because I need the proxy to surf internet in the university.
Lastly Thanks you for the great software + it is free. you save my life.
I apologize if this is already implemented, but I'd like it if it didn't say that the site was blocked due to 'pornography'. I don't want my kid asking what pornography is as they are too young. Is there a way to modify it to a generic 'site blocked' message?
Can we change the screen appearing on blocked sites?
It is really annoying. It gets in the way of accessing my toolbar, because it is always present. There really needs to be a mode where this pop-up can be disabled
If I set K9 to block https webpages, I already know it's going to do that. I don't need to be reminded every 1.5 seconds. What's worse, nothing short of restarting my computer makes them stop once they get started. I can completely disconnect from the internet, and the black box just keeps flashing over and over again, telling me that https sites are being blocked. I can even go into the administrator settings and ALLOW all https sites and every other kind of website, clear the cache in my browser, quit and restart all apps, and the notifications still won't stop! I don't want to see these notifications ever. PLEASE give us an option to disable them.
I have 'Filter secure traffic' on and when an https site is blocked K9 has a small pop up in the bottom right corner, I would really like it if there would be a setting or some way to stop the pop ups
Some https sites cause lots of HTTPS Block popup warnings, especially when 'advertisements' are blocked. It seems these popup warnings are queued up, as they keep popping up for a long time, even after the browser is closed.
A config option to disable the HTTPS Block popup would be great.
When showing a powerpoint presentation, or showing work on your Laptop, Netbook or Desktop computer, the "HTTPS Block" bubble can be very annoying.
The K9 programs are displayed under the Programs List. Make them invisable to all except the Administrator.
Please give the option to either remove the HTTPS block popup, or the ability to move it to a certain location on the desktop since the place where it comes up is too important for me (it's a place where some important buttons are located...) and if i click on it it opens a web browser...
How to turn off all notifications in k9. so the user does not see any error messages
Would it be possible to add this feature as a selected option and not the default option?
tirar a tela preta que aparece no canto do relógio quando bloqueia algum site
Enable "stealth mode" or hide K9 so that it's not visible. Currently K9 only works best for small kids but with teenagers, it causes issues because they're smart enough to know that they're being blocked and restricted in the internet.
There should be option to hide the notification or alerts regarding blocked sites. e.g. this site is blocked by K9 Web Protection..
This help the people sharing the same PC to understand that web protection has been enabled on this PC...because of which the try to hack the PC or try to enter password..
If by any mean the get the password then it difficult to manage PC.
it is more discrete to let an error screen popup instead of the k9 screen. in that way, children might not be away that there is a programme blocking some websites and they might not be tempted to look for ways to bypass such a programme.
When a prohibited site is accessed, a small popup is shown.
Is there a way to disable the popup?
I am trying to disable late night access to Social Media by stealth as children enter exam season.
I am trying to allow access to educational content and bar Facebook etc. Would prefer either nothing or a 505 site not found message in the browser to give the impression that it is a site problem rather than a URL filter at work.
For those who are interested in only stopping the HTTPS block popup page, that feature is now available in our beta version of K9 Web Protection (version 4.4.268) which can be downloaded at http://download.k9webprotection.com/k9-webprotection-beta.exe (for Windows) or http://download.k9webprotection.com/k9-webprotection-beta.dmg (for OS X).
See http://k9webprotection.uservoice.com/forums/84793-general/suggestions/3485843-hide-https-block-pop-ups for details on that particular feature.
For those that want customized block pages, please allocate your votes to the suggestion at http://k9webprotection.uservoice.com/forums/84793-general/suggestions/1484459-customised-block-pages

our computer has been BLOCKED and i dont know how .
what should i do ?
That's what I need.
Basic, and 2 the point, no warnings,
my computer is safe and with no reasons. :)
As a sexaholic, I strongly identify with those who want to protect themselves without being embarrassed when sharing their online resource with others. I need to be able to consider who is safe for me to be vulnerable and open with, and when I wish to hide my struggle.
I am disappointed by those who wish to protect a guy against his wishes because none of that protection ever helped me. On the contrary, it usually fueled my rebellious attitudes and defiant behavior.
If you want to help someone who is struggling then start with a relationship where it is safe to talk openly about fears and pain. "Many of us felt inadequate, unworthy, alone, and afraid. Our insides never matched what we saw on the outsides of others."
How to set my custom page instead of K9 Web protection block page. Please help me i want to set it so that no body knows what is working in the backand and no one can break this software. if anyone know about it pls guide me.

What i really want to change is the notification that i get in the upper right of my screen every time k9 blocks an page or an ad. On some sites, the notification is constant. Please allow the user to have control over the notifications popups.
Please, I don't want to have to find some other filter; K9 is great if not for this, but it's *really* starting to eat on my nerves.... and it's really not necessary. I can't imagine that anyone enjoys constant popups. Is it so hard to get rid of?
I wish they would fix when there was a site that was blocked that it would show it once (or never) and then turn off. The HTTPS Block keeps showing up for the same page even when the internet is shut off or the page has been left. FIX THIS!

One way to block is to have a page that says "Forbidden" or "Blocked". Another that I've seen on another filter is that you choose a webpage and everytime K9 blocks something that webpage is displayed. If someone outside the family wants to borrow my computer, they don't need to know, and I might not want them to know, that I am using K9.
Cant stand the black HTTPS pop up box. So annoying!
There should be an option for a blank page or a dummy "404 Not Found" error, etc. to eliminate the implicity "you are bad" admonishment to children, or the reinforcement of negative behavior to self-moderators.

It can be annoying when the K9 icon appears right over a button I want to use. Can you put a bar on the icon that we can use to drag it to a better location on that page?

the blocked pop up shows up in an area where I need to press a button (touch screen) so it interferes with the program I am using at the time. Is there no way to stop this "HTTPS block" pop ups?!
I just installed K9 and I think it's great. I just use it to block social networking. Unfortunatly the popups in the bottom right corner are just too annoying on every website I visit. Ironically, even connect.facebook on this very webpage. There has to be a way to disable it. Now uninstalling and going back to OpenDNS untill this feature is implemented.
Ugh. I LOVE K9, but I am soo annoyed with the new(ish) pop-up box in the lower right corner that tells me something is being blocked. Once in a very long while this is helpful. Generally it is incessant and annoying, and occasionally even embarrassing. The only way I know to make it stop popping up if someone else is using the computer with me is to turn off K9 completely in the Admin, and then it won't even be blocking phishing sites, etc. I liked it much better before this feature was added. Generally in my experience, when the box pops up, it pops up over and over and over, every second or so. Sometimes it is because I haven't freed up the internet for this time of day yet, which is annoying but understandable (yes, I know it is blocked, already!), and sometimes it is something more embarrassing, like when I was using my laptop to have a friend join a group study, and was on skype, with everyone looking at the laptop. Because I had Facebook blocked, the pop-up was going crazy. I just had to hope no one was looking at it. Very frustrating. This last issue happens anytime I am on a page with links to Facebook, (when Facebook is blocked), which is an increasingly large portion of the web. This means my pop-up box is very, very active. Like I said, Ugh. I would so appreciate the removal of that feature or the addition of a stealth mode so the feature can be turned off. Thank you so much for all you do to make the web a safer, cleaner place to visit!
I really don't want my young child to see the word 'pornography' - there has to be a way to not display this on the screen when he accidentally clicks the wrong link. He is far too young to explain what this word means. This request has been here for well over a year. I realize this is a free app, and it's greatly appreciated but this feature is long overdue. Please implement asap. Thanks.
Sure, we shouldn't have to install K9 behind their backs; snooping is poor parenting. Sure, we should be open with our kids about our K9 to encourage trust. And if the child has a problem with it, perhaps its important he or she learn to accept his or her position and understand that the parent is in charge.
But this is wrong.
For many children, the in-your-face "this webpage has been blocked" will hit a nerve. It's provocative. Regaining parental authority by installing K9 on their children's PC will only enhance the deteriorating parent-child relationship. Just because the parent has the right to be in charge, and just because its right that the child learn to accept his position in the family, there's no reason to exercise those rights. There's no reason to use tools such as K9 for your own need to display power to those who graze your turf.
If you are at risk of provoking your rebellious teen, don't lock up his computer. There are wiser ways to install k9 without making a fuss. If you don't make a fuss about it, your teen won't either. But first, the K9 administration will need to see the importance of disabling the pop-up provocations.
So dear K9 staff, in particular those of you who are parents, please also consider the voice of these other parents. You can debate later whether or not their parenting system is an appropriate one. Until then, please disable the blocked-page messages.
Would love to be able to chose whether or not to let someone know that they can't access a page and would love to be able to customize it to say what I would like it to say. Such as:
Sorry Son, your not old enough to access pornography and/or anything else I don't want on my computer! Once you are old enough you can *get a job*, *move out*, *pay your own bills* and *get your own computer*. These sites are permanently blocked on my dime. :)
Would love this feature. Instead of showing the reason to block if it would just show the message " content unavailable". Thanks for a great app that's free! :-)
quite rught. the blocked msgs are very annoying
